Think Tech And I

Is Cloud Computing relevant in your future?

IS cloud computing your future?

IS cloud computing your future?

Nowadays to watch a tv show or movie, you are more likely to stream it using platforms like netflix, showmax, and etc. I am sure most of the so-called “Generation Z” have never bought a CD in order to listen to their favorite artist. These days if you need to listen to a song you just need to either download or stream on any one of the many online music streaming platforms. Today we can save, transfer and download any media files whenever we want to.  All of this is possible because of what they call cloud computing.

I’m sure a lot of you are now wondering what exactly is cloud computing? According to Investopedia, cloud computing is the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence—over the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale.

Before cloud computing, IT companies had to use millions to build and maintain their own physical data centers and servers to host and maintain their online platforms and any other tech platforms, not to mention that maintaining these data centers and servers cost these million

Today, rather than keeping files on a proprietary hard drive or local storage device, cloud-based storage makes it possible to save them to a remote database. So as long as an electronic device has access to the web, it has access to the data and the software programs to run it.

There are different types of cloud computing depending on what types of servers your company or online platforms need to have. What is nice about cloud computing is that you can manage the data centers and servers provided by cloud computing the way you see fit. Personally, I can say cloud computing is the present and the future.

With the way the world is changing, in a few years’ time, we will be seeing a very digitalised world resulting in more and more data centers and servers. This is where cloud computing comes in, as we wouldn’t need to stress and spend a lot of money building physical data centers and servers.

So I encourage everyone to at least learn more about cloud computing as you will never know, you might end up bringing the next big idea and cloud computing is definitely a part of the future
